CIA Director William Burns has tapped an agency veteran with the task of getting to the bottom of the so-called Havana Syndrome mystery as US officials grow increasingly concerned about the phenomenon, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

The unnamed veteran led the agency's pursuit of Osama bin Laden a decade ago and has been requested to lead the task force, aimed at finding the cause of unexplained health incidents suffered by US spies and diplomats around the world.
The syndrome is suspected to have affected scores of US officials posted overseas. It received its name as the incidence was first noted among officials at the US embassy in Havana, Cuba, in 2016.
Measures to find the source of the syndrome have taken on extra urgency as several US diplomatic representatives taking part in the Iran nuclear talks in Vienna have reported unexplained symptoms, including headaches, fogginess, dizziness, and memory loss, the report said.
