A troubling video purporting to show a female IDF soldier waving a Palestinian flag has been making the rounds on social media over the past 24 hours. The video was originally published on TikTok.

The alleged IDF soldier can be seen waving a large Palestinian flag with Arabic music playing in the background.
The IDF, as of Thursday morning, was still unaware of the soldier's identity, but an army spokesman said the IDF viewed the matter gravely.

It wasn't clear what led the soldier to wave a Palestinian flag and upload a video of it to social media. A preliminary inquiry tracing the source of the video led investigators to several TikTok user groups, some of which regularly upload content made my soldiers.
It remains possible that the act was done as a sort of prank or parody, as TikTok in recent months has become a prominent destination for soldiers to upload humorous videos. Other armies have already made the decision to ban the use of social media, but the IDF has imposed no such restrictions.
Regardless of the video's intent, however, people online reacted angrily to the video and said it played directly into the hands of Israel's enemies.
