Lebanese citizens have the right to respond to Israeli attacks, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said at a parliamentary meeting on Monday, Arutz 7 reported, quoting Kan 11 News.

According to Kan 11 and Arutz 7, Mikati promised he would work to "liberate" any Lebanese territories "occupied by Israel."
At the same opportunity, the Lebanese prime minister announced that Lebanon intended to resume US-brokered talks with Israel to establish an official maritime border, the report said.
Mikati's announcement came a day after he asked his foreign minister to seek clarification from the international community after Israel granted US oilfield services group Halliburton an offshore drilling contract in the Mediterranean.
Lebanon and Israel are in dispute over the delineation of their territorial waters in the Mediterranean and negotiations between the old foes could lead to Lebanon being able to unlock valuable gas reserves amid its worst-ever financial crisis.
The two countries have been holding on-off US mediated talks since October to try to resolve the issue.
"We will not back down on this issue or give up on Lebanese rights," Mikati was quoted as saying in a statement issued by his office.
