Social media giant Facebook is reportedly planning to change its name as part of an effort to rebrand the platform, the Verge reported on Tuesday.

The new name could be announced as early as next week, the report said, adding that Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg plans to talk about the name change at the company's annual Connect conference, slated to take place on Oct. 28.
In response, Facebook said it does not comment on "rumor or speculation."
