A court in Argentina on Thursday sentenced to life an Israeli man who killed his mother and aunt in January 2019.

Forty-year-old Gil Peleg was arrested and charged with homicide after the remains of his mother, Pyrhia Sarusi, and aunt, Lily Pereg, were discovered on his property in the western city of Mendoza.
The two traveled to the South American country to visit Pereg and had been missing for two weeks before their remains were found.

According to reports, Pereg was mentally ill, homeless, and lived in a house surrounded by dozens of cats. He has been dubbed by local media as "cat man" due to repeatedly meowing in court in response to prosecutors' questions.
Pereg has denied all allegations.
