Egypt's Suez Canal earned revenue of $6 billion from January until the first half of December, the canal authority's chairman, Osama Rabie, said in a statement on Sunday, noting it was the period's highest ever revenue.

The highest-ever revenue comes in a year that saw all shipping traffic through the key artery stopped after the cargo ship Ever Given became stuck on March 23, blocking the canal. The ship was finally freed on March 29 and shipping traffic resumed.
