IDF soldiers thwarted the smuggling of some 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of drugs on the Israel-Egypt border on Saturday, Army Radio reported, adding that the contrabands were handed over to the Israel Police.

The military said in a statement that lookouts stationed near the border "identified a number of suspects attempting to smuggle drugs from Egyptian territory into Israel. IDF troops acted to thwart the smuggling attempt and captured around 100 kilograms of drugs that were transferred to the police."
