"The two leaders discussed a number of issues, primarily matters of regional security. The two agreed on continued close cooperation in this area. The Prime Minister and the President also discussed security challenges in the global arena," Bennett wrote on Twitter. "Against the backdrop of the nuclear talks in Vienna, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of a strong and determined stance against Iran's progress in the nuclear project."
According to Bennett, Putin invited him and his wife to visit St. Petersburg. "The Prime Minister replied that he and his wife would be pleased to pay the visit," Bennett's office said. The two leaders met in the resort Russian city of Sochi several in October to discuss a range of issues, just several months after Bennett became prime minister.
Shortly after that meeting, Israel Hayom reported that Putin and Bennett agreed to expand their dialogue on the Iranian nuclear threat and the regime's activity in Syria. According to sources, Moscow disapproved of Tehran's nuclear progress and was concerned with its efforts to enrich uranium to a military level.
