No matter the price, Iran will never have nuclear weapons, Intelligence Services Minister Elazar Stern told Majdi Halabi, the Israel correspondent for the London-based Arabic news site Elaph Tuesday.

Stern further said that Israel will assist the United Arab Emirates with intelligence and technological means in order to overcome the Houthi threat.

Against the backdrop of airstrikes in Syria attributed to Israel, he said they benefit the Syrian people as well.

"They are happy about the attacks that Israel is conducting on the Iranian militia sites. They clearly see that the attacks are not directed against civilians or the Syrian army, but against foreign forces that are seeking to settle in their country. The Iranians are smart, they send others to threaten us, and remain safe in their country."

Iran "is building forces to threaten us at our borders," Stern continued. "In the past, it was stones and slingshots, and then machine guns, and now – rockets. We must prevent this in order to prevent a war. When Iran attacks Israel from its territory – Israel will respond there by targeting the head and not just the proxies."

Stern also said that Israel was ready to assist Saudi Arabia, if Riyadh so wished.

"We have a lot to offer the region in terms of peace," he said, noting that Israel believed the Abraham Accords could be expanded.

With regard to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the intelligence services minister said he was a proponent of the two-state solution. He also said he believed the current government would not be able to achieve a breakthrough in peace talks, but would also not use measures that would prevent such progress from occurring in the future.
