Baruch Leifer, father-in-law of alleged sex offender Malka Leifer, was identified Monday as the Jerusalem rabbi who was arrested in January on suspicion of molesting children several years prior.

Leifer, who is in his seventies and is a senior member of the Khust Hasidic dynasty, is suspected of multiple indecent acts. He was arrested after two people accused him of assault, a family member who said at the time of the alleged events she was only 12, and a man who said the rabbi assaulted him when he was 18.
His daughter-in-law is awaiting trial in Australia after being accused of molesting studetns when she was principal of the Adass Israel School in Melbourne.
