Korniychuk opened by saying that Russia was intentionally shelling civilian targets, including "schools, nurseries, and hospitals."
According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Korniychuk said, 12,000 Russian soldiers had been killed since the invasion began two weeks ago.
Korniychuk said that Israel was a signatory to the UN Refugee Convention, and that he was in contact with Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked on the matter of Israel taking in Ukrainians fleeing the fighting. The ambassador said Israel would soon make "positive" decisions, and that there were still refugees waiting at Ben-Gurion Airport for their entry permits to be processed.
The Ukrainian envoy lashed out at Israel, saying that "neighboring countries" had supplied Ukraine will all the weapons and ammunition they could.
Touching on Zelenskyy's planned address to Knesset members, Korniychuk said that the fact that the Knesset is on holiday would not be an excuse for a poor turnout.
In response, Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai said in a tweet that Zelenskyy's speech should be broadcast in Habima Square.
