The statement went on to say that Bennett "thanked the king for his firm statement against the terrorist attacks that have taken place in Israel in recent days. The prime minister and the king also discussed the importance of cooperation between the countries and the continuation of the ongoing relationship and dialogue."
According to the Jordanian state media, "His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday received a phone call from Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, and reaffirmed the importance of ensuring comprehensive calm to prevent any tensions or escalations in the Palestinian Territories." The statement also said that the king "stressed the need to stop any measures that could cause violence, escalate the conflict, and undermine the prospects of peace" and urged that Israel take the necessary step to "facilitate the access of Muslim worshippers to Al-Aqsa Mosque, without any impediments."
The conversation comes just days after Israeli President Isaac Herzog held a historic visit to the kingdom, in which the two sides vowed to maintain good relations despite the regional tensions. Defense Minister Benny Gantz also met with Abdullah recently.
