The European Gymnastics Federation on Thursday called off the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships scheduled for May 2023 in Moscow over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

In a statement, the federation said: "The Executive Committee has decided to reopen the bidding process for the 2023 European Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics, due to be held in May 2023.
Originally allocated to Moscow, the current European sanctions prevent the fulfillment of obligations stated in the event contract, leading to the cancellation of the host allocation." the statement read.
Israel is set to host this year's championships at Expo Tel Aviv from June 15-19.
