State-run media said that Israeli warplanes attacked several targets in the region, adding most of the missiles, shot from the Golan Heights, were shot down, with none injured.
Other reports cited military sources as saying that the strike had caused massive damage to the area.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition group, reported that anti-aircraft systems were used against Israeli missiles fired at targets south of the capital, where Hezbollah sites are located.
The IAF did not respond to the allegations, which is the Israeli military's policy with regard to such reports in Arab media.
Syria often boasts about downing Israeli missiles – a claim regional experts dismiss as hollow.
