A group of youth from the Bnei Menashe community stumbled across a coin dating back some 2,000 years to the Hasmonean period during a field trip organized by the JNF-KKL.

The youngsters, who were visiting an archaeological sifting site near the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, spotted the coin lying on the ground among rocks.
"We were listening to the guides' explanation before we started to look, and we didn't really believe we'd find historic artifacts. When we found the coin, we were thrilled," said Shimshon Panai.
This past year, some 1,200 Bnei Menashe have made aliyah and established their homes in the Nof Hagalil community. The JNF-KKL has made it a mission to help the community members integrate into Israeli society.
Nissim Magnaji, director of the JNF-KKL's Community and Immigration Department, said, "The Bnei Menashe community, like many other olim who come to Israel, has difficulty integrating, and the KKL is here for them, like it has been for the last 120 years.
"These are amazing people, who made aliyah out of a sense of devotion and Zionism. We're very proud of our project with them" Magnaji said.
