Western intelligence sources cited in the report said that Caspian Air and Qeshm Fars Air have suspended all flights to Syria, making Mahan Air the only Iranian airline still operating a direct route between the two countries.
Mahan Air has been under US sanctions since 2011 for transporting weapons to Iranian proxies following to eruption of the Syrian civil war in March of that year. Caspian Air is also under US sanctions over its ties to the Revolutionary Guards, which is on Washington's terrorist blacklist.
