An Israeli bus came under fire on Sunday in the Jordan valley, with initial reports saying there were several injured in what appears to be terrorism. The bus, which belonged to the Jordan Valley Regional Council, was hit not far from the town of Bkaot. Two perpetrators were captured about 20 minutes later.

According to initial reports, the shooting was accompanied by the lobbing of at least one Molotov cocktail that also hit the bus. Army Radio said at least two injured were treated for moderate gunshot wounds but were still conscious, with other Israeli outlets saying the remaining two suffered minor wounds from glass shards. The IDF said in a statement that it was checking the reports while a large number of first responders headed in the direction of the incident. The attack was in the form of a stand-by shooting from a passing vehicle, with the perpetrators fleeing the scene before being captured.

If this is confirmed as a terrorist attack it would be the second in less than 48 hours, after a stabbing attack in Judea and Samaria on Friday that left one IDF soldier injured. The perpetrator in that incident was shot and killed by a fellow soldier, whose actions may have averted a much more deadly incident. In March after a spate of attacks that left more than 10 Israelis dead, Israel launched Operation Breakwater in Palestinian cities.
