Aslam Farouk, 26 from the Palestinian neighborhoods of Kafr 'Aqab, reportedly learned bomb making on the internet and practiced in a pit in the West Bank. His mother is a resident of East Jerusalem and his father is a resident of Ramallah.

The police revealed that Farouk, who has an Israeli passport, is a mechanical engineer and has no criminal record and no accomplices. It is said he operated under a "Salafi-jihadist ideology" that identifies with the Islamic State.
