The military vowed to exact revenge against Ibrahim Al-Saher in 2021, during Operation Guardian of the Walls, after he launched an anti-tank missile that killed IDF Staff Sgt. Omer Tabib and injured other soldiers.

Operation Guardian of the Walls was a 12-day war between Israel and the Hamas terror organization, during which almost 4,000 rockets were fired into Israeli territory.
