Hila Ehrenreich, Chief Executive of the National Center, said that "the expertise of the research institute will help the National Center and the startup companies that are party to it." The focus will be on analyzing the challenges and needs in the various arenas in maritime space. Additionally, the collaboration aims to delve into the analysis of geopolitical effects on key markets, emphasizing risk management. Furthermore, there is an emphasis on gaining a deeper understanding of the need to promote sustainable technological solutions in these times of global challenges. "The collaboration aims to create strategic opportunities both nationally and internationally," Ehrenreich added.
The National Center for Blue Economy, established in 2022 in Haifa after it was named Israel's capital of maritime innovation and the blue economy, actively supports marine startups. The Center, created by HiCenter, provides comprehensive assistance, funding opportunities, and connections to the marine industry and global networks in order to develop entrepreneurial and technological advancements in ocean-related fields. Through its efforts, the National Center for Blue Economy aims to further grow Haifa's ecosystem for blue technology and the sustainable use of marine resources.
"The alliance with the National Center for Blue Economy is an important step towards fostering synergy between academia, research institutions, and global entities focused on sustainability, environment, law, ports, energy, maritime security, and cyber," Professor Chorev said.
HiCenter's CEO, Lior Hanuka, added "I believe that this connection will significantly enhance the connection of innovation, industry, and research and strengthen Haifa's position as a leading international center in the Blue Economy".
