Security forces launched a major operation Tuesday morning near the southern resort city of Eilat, following reports of a possible security breach along the Egyptian border. The incident prompted authorities to block access to Eilat and deploy significant police and military resources, including helicopters, to the area.

After several hours, the suspicion was dismissed, and the police announced a return to normalcy. The access routes to and from the city are now open to traffic.

Route 12 was closed to vehicle traffic, and helicopters were scrambled to the area for reconnaissance.

Security officials are investigating the possibility of an infiltration by undocumented workers or terrorist operatives.

In response to the suspected incident, police established roadblocks on the access routes to Eilat. Checkpoints were set up on Routes 90 and 40 to inspect vehicles. Security forces were instructed to increase their vigilance.
