In an interview for Variety, French President Emmanuel Macron addressed France's most burning subject: Netflix's series "Emily in Paris." As its fifth season relocates to Rome, Macron declared he would "fight hard" to keep Emily, the show's protagonist, in Paris.
Spoiler alert to those who haven't caught up on Emily's adventures in the fourth season: The American in Paris meets her new Italian love interest, Marcello, the heir to his family's cashmere business. With producers expressing interest in exploring their relationship in Rome – amid ongoing drama throughout the season with Emily's former flame, Chef Gabriel – Macron commented, "We will ask them to remain in Paris! 'Emily in Paris' in Rome doesn't make sense."
The fourth season also briefly featured none other than Macron's wife Brigitte. Commenting on her appearance, Macron told Variety: "I was super proud, and she was very happy to do it. It's just a few minutes, but I think it was a very good moment for her."

Referring to the show's popularity worldwide, he added: "I think it's good for the image of France. 'Emily in Paris' is super positive in terms of attractiveness for the country. For my own business, it's a very good initiative."
While Macron champions French entertainment, he simultaneously continues his diplomatic affairs.
Recently, he called for an arms embargo on Israel in its war against Hamas, a move criticized by the umbrella organization of French Jews (CRIF) as potentially benefiting Hamas and Hezbollah rather than promoting peace.
