Reports from Gaza indicate that "journalist" Hassan Eslaiah, who broadcasted from Israeli territory during the October 7 attacks, was killed in a strike on the Nasser Hospital complex in Khan Yunis, according to an announcement from the IDF spokesperson.
Eslaiah had been hospitalized at the facility following injuries sustained approximately a month ago in a previous IDF strike.
There is photographic evidence showing Eslaiah with Yahya Sinwar, according to Arab networks.

The "journalist" worked as a freelancer for the news agencies AP and CNN. When questioned about their relationship with Eslaiah, representatives from CNN stated that he was not employed by the network on the day of the massacre but was only hired afterward. Evidence shows that on October 7, Eslaiah entered multiple kibbutzim and was documented near an IDF tank that had been attacked at the border fence – the same location from which IDF soldiers were kidnapped.

An investigation conducted following the October 7 attacks raised serious questions about the presence of journalists at the Gaza-Israel border during that devastating morning, specifically questioning whether their arrival had been coordinated with Hamas fighters. The horrific massacre images distributed by the AP news agency were produced by four individuals – among them Eslaiah. A comprehensive investigation by the HonestReporting organization, published in October 2024, uncovered evidence that journalists operating in Gaza for prominent foreign media outlets had participated in events organized by the communications ministry of the Hamas government.
