A highly unusual safety mishap occurred near the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, when a portable toilet was loaded onto a truck, with an IDF officer still inside.
The incident took place within the IDF's 646th Reserve Brigade. According to the IDF internal investigation, the mishap occurred during the process of replacing portable toilets when a platform was hoisted onto a truck. The officer in question, a platoon commander, was inside the unit at the time and reportedly failed to notice or react to the commotion outside.
The inquiry concluded that the officer's lack of attentiveness was a contributing factor in the incident.
One of the main takeaways from the investigation was clear: "Before loading, it must be ensured that no person is inside any of the toilet units."
