Israel and the United States launched Operation Epic Fury, a preemptive strike against Iran this morning (Saturday), aimed at eliminating threats to national security. The IDF will call up 70,000 reservists to reinforce its hold along the borders.
According to a report in The New York Times, extensive destruction and a rising black smoke plume at Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's fortified compound in Tehran were documented in Airbus satellite imagery taken on Saturday morning. Multiple buildings across the complex had collapsed. According to the report, the compound typically functions as both Khamenei's primary residence and the venue where Iran's supreme leader receives senior officials, though his whereabouts following the devastation remained unclear.
Against this backdrop, Iran's military declared it had unleashed a drone assault on Israel, Reuters reported, while Iranian forces carried out concurrent strikes against US military installations in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait.
