Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday that he recently underwent treatment to remove an early-stage malignant tumor in his prostate, discovered during a routine medical checkup, and that he is now in "excellent health."
In a post on X, Netanyahu said the tumor was identified at a very early stage, with no spread or metastasis, and was completely removed through targeted treatment. He described it as a "minor medical issue" that has since been fully resolved.
Netanyahu said he asked to delay publication of the medical report by two months so it would not be released "at the height of the war," in order to prevent "the terrorist regime in Iran from spreading further false propaganda against Israel." He added, "Thank God, I am healthy," "I am in excellent physical condition," and "the issue in my prostate has been fully treated. Thankfully, it is behind me."

He noted that about a year and a half ago he underwent successful surgery for a benign enlargement of the prostate and has since been under routine medical monitoring. "In the most recent checkup, a tiny spot of less than a centimeter was found in the prostate," he wrote, adding that tests showed it was "a very early-stage malignant tumor, with no spread or metastases."
According to Netanyahu, doctors presented him with two options: to continue monitoring without immediate treatment, noting that "many people live with this," or to undergo treatment and remove the tumor. He said he chose immediate action. "You already know me. When I receive timely information about a potential risk, I want to deal with it right away. That is true at the national level and also at the personal level. That is what I did."
He said he underwent "targeted treatment that removed the problem without leaving any trace," describing it as "a few short treatments" during which he "read a book and continued working." He added, "The spot disappeared completely. Thank God, I overcame this as well."
Netanyahu thanked the medical teams at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem and urged the public to prioritize their health. "I have only one request of you, the citizens of Israel: take care of your health. Get checked and follow doctors' instructions," he said. He also said he is praying for the recovery of those wounded physically and mentally and is sending them "a warm embrace and wishes for a full recovery."
