Senior US military commanders are expected to brief US President Donald Trump on a range of options for military action against Iran, Axios reported.
According to the report, the briefing will be delivered by US Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper and will include a review of military plans recently examined by the US defense establishment.
One of the main options under discussion is a "short and powerful" series of strikes against infrastructure in Iran, aimed at changing the balance of power and applying pressure on Tehran as part of diplomatic contacts.

US officials said the move was intended to break the deadlock in the talks and lead to progress with Iran, against the backdrop of ongoing tensions and an impasse in the negotiations.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine is also expected to take part in the briefing, along with other senior US military officials.
The discussions are taking place amid deliberations within the US over how to deal with Iran, after Trump previously expressed a preference for more indirect measures, including a naval blockade, while also weighing the possibility of direct strikes.
