As a new week begins, three airlines are resuming flights to and from Israel on Sunday: Azerbaijan Airlines, which will operate 14 weekly flights on the Baku-Tel Aviv route; Centrum Air, which will operate flights to Samarkand and Tashkent; and SkyUp, the Ukrainian low-cost carrier, which is currently resuming flights to Chisinau, the capital of Moldova.

Overnight Saturday to Sunday, Romanian airline TAROM resumed flights on the Tel Aviv-Bucharest route. Additional airlines expected to return this month include Hainan Airlines on May 12, Smartwings on May 20 and Fly One on May 22.

Meanwhile, as first reported by Israel Hayom, low-cost giant Wizz Air has postponed its return until May 19, following an announcement by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which extended its flight warning for Middle Eastern airspace until May 5. Wizz Air is adhering to the European guidelines and needs about two weeks of logistical preparation from the moment the warning is lifted, leading to the postponement until May 19.

In addition, Lufthansa Group, which includes Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, announced that it would continue canceling its flights to Ben Gurion Airport throughout June. However, the company left room for optimism, saying some flights may resume as early as the beginning of June, subject to a security assessment. Air France has joined the trend and announced that it is postponing its return to Israel through May 10, 2026, inclusive.
