The IDF cleared for publication Friday morning that Staff Sgt. Negev Dagan, 20, of Moshav Dekel, a soldier in Battalion 12 of the Golani Brigade, was killed by a mortar shell fired toward Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.
Negev was killed on Thursday at around 10:00 p.m. in the Litani area of southern Lebanon as a result of a mortar shell fired by Hezbollah. He is the sixth IDF soldier killed on the northern front since the declaration of the ceasefire. The IDF spokesperson further stated that Dagan was promoted posthumously from sergeant to staff sergeant. He is survived by his parents, Hava and Shalom, and five siblings.

Michal Uziyahu, head of the Eshkol Regional Council (the local authority for Gaza border communities), wrote, "We are pained and shaken by the fall of our dear council member. Negev was a friendly, opinionated young man who was deeply loved by his friends. Even as a boy, he worked with great diligence, loved fixing old vehicles, and was drawn to hands-on work and his own independent path. We share in the deep grief of his family, his friends, and the Dekel community."
Earlier this week, on Monday, the IDF spokesperson cleared for publication the death of a reservist, Warrant Officer (res.) Alexander Glovanyov, who was killed when an explosive drone launched by Hezbollah toward Israel detonated. Glovanyov, who was 47 at the time of his death, was struck directly by the explosion of one of the drones. He is the fourth member of the security forces killed during the ceasefire as a result of explosive drones.
