El Al has signed an agreement with Starlink to install a satellite internet system on its aircraft that will provide passengers with free high-speed browsing, subject to conditions, beginning in 2027. The move puts El Al alongside a series of leading global airlines that have already adopted Elon Musk's satellite service.
Starlink operates a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit, known as LEO, enabling broadband internet connectivity during flights. The connection supports streaming, remote work and other digital services, allowing passengers to stay continuously connected from takeoff to landing. According to the company, the system can connect hundreds of passengers simultaneously, including on long-haul flights.

A broader trend among major airlines
When the service launches, El Al will join a broader trend in the global aviation industry. In recent months, the European-British aviation group IAG, which includes British Airways and Iberia, as well as United Airlines, Qatar Airways and Lufthansa, have announced similar partnerships with Starlink.
El Al CEO Dina Ben-Tal Ganancia said the integration of Starlink technology into El Al aircraft was "a significant step forward, enabling customers to stay connected in the air, enjoy live streaming and continue working and communicating smoothly and without interruption."
Ben-Tal Ganancia said the move reflected the company's commitment to providing a flight experience that meets the aviation industry's international standards.
