An orange swimming alert (a cautionary beach warning issued by Israeli authorities when sea conditions pose a risk to bathers) has been declared for the Mediterranean coast due to moderate to high waves, with water temperature standing at 26°C (79°F). The Kinneret (Israel's Sea of Galilee) is calm to moderate at 26°C (79°F), and the Red Sea is expected to remain calm at 25°C (77°F).
Jellyfish numbers have continued rising along parts of the Israeli coastline. According to Meduzot.co.il, large numbers of jellyfish have been spotted in the water off Ashkelon and Ashdod beaches, alongside reports of stings from the seawater itself. Large concentrations of jellyfish were also reported in the Tel Aviv and Herzliya coastal areas. In Haifa Bay, no large numbers of jellyfish were observed; however, reports of water stings are growing.
The stable weather will continue through the week. Monday brings partial cloud cover with isolated morning drizzle possible in the north and along the coastal plain. Temperatures will edge up slightly Tuesday and Wednesday – particularly in northern Israel, where they are expected to run marginally above seasonal norms. A mild pullback follows Thursday and Friday, with slightly more comfortable conditions, before temperatures tick back up Saturday.
The stable stretch is forecast to last at least through June 21 – the official first day of summer and the longest day of the year, after which daylight hours will gradually shorten and nights will grow longer.
