The Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet security agency announced Monday that Sabai Zaher Abd al-Hamid Abu Hasna, a Nukhba terrorist in Hamas' military wing who, according to the IDF, was involved in holding former hostage Omer Shem Tov captive, was eliminated in a strike carried out over the weekend in the northern Gaza Strip.
As will be recalled, when Shem Tov was released from Hamas captivity, he was filmed kissing the heads of two of his captors on the release stage in Gaza. Abu Hasna was one of the terrorists involved in holding him captive. The IDF said Abu Hasna also took part in the Oct. 7 massacre and worked throughout the war to advance terrorist activity against IDF troops in Gaza.
According to the IDF statement, Abu Hasna took part in the Oct. 7 massacre after infiltrating Israeli territory. During the war, he was involved in planting explosive devices and advancing terrorist attacks against IDF troops operating in Gaza.
In addition, three armed Hamas terrorists were eliminated in another strike carried out in northern Gaza. According to the IDF, the terrorists had attempted to advance terrorist attacks against IDF troops.
The IDF stressed that Southern Command forces continue to operate in the field in accordance with the existing agreements, and that efforts will continue to remove threats and target terrorist operatives in the Gaza Strip.
