Ben-Gurion Airport is expected to record its highest passenger traffic today (Thursday) since the outbreak of Operation Rising Lion, with more than 75,000 passengers passing through on incoming and outgoing international flights.
More than 2 million passengers are expected to pass through Ben-Gurion Airport in July, an increase of about 25% in international passenger traffic compared to the same period last year.
"The preparations include intensive work with all relevant parties, including the removal of some of the American aircraft from Ben-Gurion Airport, in order to expand the range of flights available during the summer season," Transportation Minister Miri Regev said.

"We are operating in a complex security reality, alongside ongoing efforts to increase Ben-Gurion Airport's operational capacity. The figures reflect the recovery of the aviation industry and the restoration of international airlines' confidence in operating in Israel," Israel Airports Authority Director General Sharon Kedmi said.
The Israel Airports Authority recommends that passengers:
- Check in in advance.
- Check ahead of time which terminal their flight is departing from.
- Arrive at Ben-Gurion Airport three hours before the scheduled flight time.
- Check for updates on the flight time with the airline.
As part of the Israel Airports Authority's preparations for the expected increase in passenger numbers during the summer months, Terminal 1 will resume operations: domestic flights from Terminal 1 will resume on June 28, 2026, and international flights from Terminal 1 will resume on July 1, 2026.
The reopening of the terminal is intended to increase Ben-Gurion Airport's operational capacity, meet high demand during the summer season and improve the passenger service experience.
