US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee received the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem's highest honor, the Torch of Abraham Award, during the U.S. Embassy Jerusalem's official Freedom 250 celebration marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.
The award recognized Huckabee's decades-long support for Israel and the Jewish people, his contribution to the US-Israel alliance, and his leadership during a historic year of cooperation between the two countries- including the recent confrontation with Iran.
The award was presented by Larry A. Mizel, Chairman and Co-Founder of the Museum of Tolerance Jerusalem, who described Huckabee as a steadfast friend of Israel whose support has remained consistent throughout his public career. "Throughout his distinguished career and his many visits to this country, Ambassador Huckabee has demonstrated an extraordinary love for the State of Israel and the Jewish people," Mizel said. "He has consistently honored the Jewish people's historic bond to this land and stood firmly beside us."
Mizel also praised Huckabee's public support for Israel during the recent conflict with Iran, which saw an unprecedented level of military and strategic cooperation between the United States and Israel. "At one of the most consequential moments in our shared history, Ambassador Huckabee stood firmly with the Jewish people and the Jewish State," Mizel said. "He remained a strong and unwavering voice for Israel and for the US–Israel alliance."
The Torch of Abraham Award is presented to individuals whose leadership reflects the Museum's core values of tolerance, mutual responsibility, human dignity, and meaningful dialogue. Previous recipients have been recognized for advancing cooperation, confronting hatred, and strengthening relations between communities and nations.
For the second consecutive year, the US Embassy Jerusalem partnered with the Museum for its official Independence Day celebration. This year's event marked Freedom 250, celebrating two and a half centuries of American independence and the enduring values of freedom and democracy.
