Three sources in Yemen's government told Reuters that the Houthis have seized the strategic Red Sea port city of Mocha, marking a significant gain for the Iran-backed group as it advances south toward the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
Earlier, Houthi-affiliated media reported that the terrorist group had taken control of two areas in Hodeidah province overnight.
Gen. Tareq Saleh, whose forces are aligned with Yemen's internationally recognized government, reported that members of his forces had been killed and wounded in recent days while confronting the Houthi offensive.
Saleh said the command had instructed forces on the western coast to reorganize and establish an alternative headquarters in a secure location.
At the same time, reports from Yemen said a series of airstrikes had targeted Houthi positions in Hodeidah province.
