The flydubai flight incident on Wednesday, during which passengers overpowered a crew member who attacked the pilot, has made headlines worldwide. While international media outlets focused on the moments of terror in the air and passenger testimonies, Iran rushed to accuse Israel of planning a false flag operation against it.
Security officials in Iran told Iranian state-affiliated news agency Fars, "The Zionist regime intends to carry out a terrorist attack in the region, such as attacking planes or airports and sacrificing civilians," and to blame Iran. The report noted the goal is to spark a "new wave of pressure and international consensus" against Tehran, and Iranian intelligence agencies are "currently focusing on thwarting the scenario."

The CNN network presented an analysis of the dramatic timeline and operational moves. Correspondent Eleni Giokos described the moments of terror in the air and noted, "The incident was taken so seriously... that the prime minister and defense minister of Israel held a security consultation, and Israeli fighter jets were scrambled following the reports." CNN clarified that despite initial fears, official sources confirmed it was not a hijacking but a violent brawl.
Under the main headline "Panic in the Sky," the New York Post wrote, "Officials – pilot on flight linked to Israelis stabbed by co-pilot." The newspaper emphasized the aircraft's sharp loss of altitude, which caused severe anxiety in those moments and raised immediate fears of a hijacking in the air.

The Bild newspaper wrote under the headline, "The plane plunged 4,500 meters (14,760 feet) in one minute – the co-pilot pulled a knife."
The BBC network focused on the dramatic passenger testimonies and the official airline report. News anchor Karin Giannone quoted an Israeli passenger who said the crew asked for help from passengers to overpower one of the pilots. Alongside this, the network presented the flydubai statement that the flight "experienced an incident during the flight. The plane landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia and all passengers are safe and sound."
The British tabloid The Sun provided a particularly graphic and dramatic description under the headline, "Chaos in the cockpit." The newspaper wrote, "The co-pilot repeatedly stabbed the captain," which led to the activation of an immediate hijacking alert while "passengers screamed in terror."
