Midtown Manhattan became the site of a targeted violent assault Wednesday evening when an assailant wounded a Crown Heights Lubavitcher man in an attack that law enforcement authorities are reviewing as a potential antisemitic hate crime, COLlive reported. The incident occurred at roughly 5:45 p.m. in the Diamond District close to the intersection where West 47th Street meets Fifth Avenue.
Preliminary findings indicate that an unidentified woman in her 30s crept up behind the victim and stabbed him in the back with a knife before running off westward in the direction of Sixth Avenue.
Emergency medical responders from Hatzalah reached the scene to provide medical aid before transporting the wounded man to Bellevue Hospital, where physicians listed him in stable condition. Meanwhile, Manhattan Shomrim Safety Patrol corroborated that its personnel are collaborating directly with the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force on the investigation.

"We are asking for the public's assistance," the organization stated, while imploring witnesses or anyone holding relevant dashboard camera footage, security video, or mobile phone recordings to make contact with investigators.
Authorities described the fleeing suspect as a white female standing around 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 meters) tall, clad in white sneakers and blue jeans, with a dark sweater tied around her waist.
Law enforcement officers have kept the identity of the victim confidential while withholding additional details regarding the background of the assault, and no immediate arrests have been confirmed. This violent act joins a troubling series of recent assaults targeting Jewish residents throughout New York City.
