If England or France advance to the semifinals, this will automatically qualify the Israeli team for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
The soccer soccer player joined the Al Ain club in the UAE, making him the first Jewish-Israeli player to play in an Arab league. He spoke with Israel Hayom.
The victory follows Israel's surprising success in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, in which it came in third.
"Robbie brings the mentality, character, energy and focus of a winner, traits he exhibited everywhere he played," Maccabi's owner, Canadian real estate developer Mitch Goldhar, said in a statement.
Makkabi has recently become the first Jewish club to qualify for the first round of the DFB Cup after it secured the title of the Berlin State Cup, a first for the club. VfL Wolfsburg was formed originally as a sports club for the workers of car manufacturer Volkswagen in the city of Wolfsburg.
Israel downs Brazil 3-2 and reaches the U-20 World Cup semifinal. The team will now face Uruguay or the United States.
The team defeats reigning champion Uzbekistan 1-0. Anan Khalaili, the Maccabi Haifa under-19 forward, scores the winning goal.
Coach Ofir Haim called it a "heroic win" and "the greatest match in the history of Israeli soccer."
Several riders have to miss the national competition due to the incident.
