Britain, Italy and France pledged to pressure Israel, even as Washington told Lebanon's president the country would remain outside the Iran ceasefire deal.
The ceasefire left Israel without diplomatic gains and without a response to its main threats. The gap between military success and the actual outcome heightens the risk of further escalation. At the same time, criticism is mounting over the government's conduct and its impact on Israel's standing on the international stage.
The US has given Iran a 36 hour deadline to meet the ceasefire terms, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz and halting all fire. The message came amid fears of violations on the ground and growing pressure on Tehran to honor its commitments. US officials stress that without full compliance, the conflict could resume.
According to American commentators, the central objective of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons has already been achieved for a prolonged period. The damage to Iran's production systems and missile capabilities has altered the regional balance of deterrence. Alongside the military achievements, however, the question of the regime's stability and the broader diplomatic consequences remains unresolved.
