A senior Hamas source claimed that deceased hostage Lt. Hadar Goldin had been located in the Rafah area of the Gaza Strip and was expected to be returned “within hours.” Nearly a day after the report, Israel is still waiting. A senior political official condemned the delay, saying: “Israel views Hamas’ conduct with great severity and demands his immediate return.”

A source close to the Goldin family said, “Please do not state definitively that Hadar has been returned to Israel; it cannot be known for certain yet.” Earlier, a senior political source condemned the delay in the return of Lt. Hadar Goldin to Israel, calling it a “serious violation.”

Hamas has decided that now is the time to return Lt. Hadar Goldin, in an apparent bid to help some 200 of its members trapped in tunnels beneath Rafah, in territory currently controlled by Israel. At the same time, tensions are mounting in southern Lebanon as the IDFs step up strikes on Hezbollah targets.
