The Israeli and Italian delegations to the United Nations on Friday were set to reveal a new project aimed at both preserving and providing public access to the wealth of knowledge found in the Talmud.
Through funding from Italy's National Research Council, advanced technologies for the translation, semantic analysis and digitization of the Talmud will be used in order to make these Talmudic texts, the primary source of Jewish theology and religious law, accessible to the public.
Israel's Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon said the project would allow Italians to be exposed to "the power and importance" of the Talmud.
