As protests continue across Iran more than a week after Iran's military mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian airliner killing all 176 passengers on board, hundreds of Iranians are taking to the streets to protest this tragedy and risking their lives in the process.

One protester in Tehran, who wished to remain anonymous for his own safety, spoke with Jeff Smith, host of The Daily Dose on i24NEWS regarding the violent crackdown coming from Iranian authorities.

The protester keeps his face covered for security measures, to avoid being identified by the regime on security cameras placed in the streets. He described methods by Iranian authorities to disperse crowds of protesters, "by shooting tear-gas, by beating up people, creating mayhem and terror."

When questioned about the United States decision to kill top Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, and the true level of support the Iranian public held for the slain general, the demonstrator responded, "The Iranian people regarded Soleimani as a terrorist and criminal because he plundered the Iranian people's wealth in suppressing (the demonstrations in) November. He had the leading role and spent it on his own terrorist activity."

"He massacred 1500 people. He has done no service whatsoever to this country," he added.

Regarding Iran's nuclear program, the Tehran protester said that "People are sick and tired of the Islamic Republic regime. They are in no way ready to let this government stay for years and years."

He cautioned those who follow Iranian news media, "Every news item you hear has many exaggerations, and is not the truth."
