Three border policemen were arrested on Sunday on suspicion of robbing and assaulting Palestinians in a border crossing in southern Israel.
The three were arrested following a covert investigation by the Police Internal Investigations Unit. It is believed they would target Palestinians seeking to cross into Israel for work purposes and take their money.
"The Israel Police takes this case very seriously. The suspects are conscripted officers performing their regular service. This case is highly unusual and if the allegations prove true they have no place in our ranks," the police said in a statement.
