Israelis spent nearly half of the grant money they received from the government during the COVID crisis, according to a study by Professor Naomi Feldman and Professor Uri Hefetz of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The data for the study was collected via an online survey at the end of August, to which 1,000 people responded. Participants said they spent 38%-51% of their grants shortly after receiving the money.

The study found that most of the money spent went to cover bank overdrafts, followed by paying household bills.
