Europe's rabbis have called for increased governmental "control and transparency" for Muslim and other places of worship. On Tuesday, the attack was claimed by the Islamic State.
According to a Tuesday report by JTA, Goldschmidt asserted the importance of inquiry into the materials being promoted in mosques and other places of worship, as well as into their sources of funding.
Europe must know "what foreign influences are promoting such terrible deeds and how social media serve as a vehicle for this," the rabbi asserted.
He also called for religious leaders to undergo their training and get their certificates domestically, in Europe, and state their adherence to the laws of the lands where they operate.
