The Likud and Blue and White parties, said to be mounting a last-ditch effort to avoid early elections, both denied reports suggesting that a breakthrough has been made toward reaching a compromise that would prevent Israel from holding its fourth elections in less than two years.

The statements followed a Channel 13 News report of "dramatic" progress had been made in talks between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party and Defense Minister Benny Gantz's Blue and White faction.
A Channel 12 News report said that the parties are in talks to push that date of the next elections from March to May or even August of 2022.
