Commanders in the Iranian-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah are worried outgoing US President Donald Trump or his Israeli counterparts would use the remaining weeks in office to take action against it, the Guardian reported on Sunday.

Leaders and senior members fear that Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Israel would "use the weeks before Joe Biden's inauguration to act decisively against Iran and Hezbollah before the new president takes a widely anticipated softer stance." One mid-ranking member is quoted as saying that "they've got their window and they want to finish what they started... But don't worry, the sayyid [the group's leader, Hassan Nasrallah] is safe."
The Hezbollah officials interviewed for the article said they would not let US or Israeli action lead to a major escalation because they would rather wait for the incoming administration in the hope that it would renew nuclear talks with Iran and lift sanctions.
"But will they try something big in Beirut in the coming weeks? It's possible and it's true there are security alerts in Dahiyeh [the Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut] and in the south. This is all about protecting our leaders. We don't have anything specific. But there is something in the atmosphere," one source said.
