The first drivers on Moscow's underground train system began work on Sunday.
On Jan. 1, an order issued in 2019 by Russia's Labor and Social Protection Ministry allowing women to be employed as electric train drivers in the subway industry came into effect.

Prior to the ministry's decision, women were not allowed to be employed as electric train drivers or assistant drivers.
The Moscow Underground plans to hire some 500 women as drivers in the next five years.
