A 23-year-old Israeli man who received a first dose of the COVID vaccine while positive for the virus, although asymptomatic, was hospitalized last week with a rare multi-system inflammatory response that could cause heart damage, Hadassah Ein Karem Medical Center reported Sunday.
The medical center staff discovered that prior to being vaccinated, the man had contracted coronavirus without showing any symptoms.

The patient was still hospitalized in the COVID unit at Hadassah on Sunday and was listed in good condition.
Head of the medical center's COVID unit, Professor Dror Mevorach, told Israel Hayom: "This is the first such case in the world. I would be very cautious about vaccinating people who have coronavirus. He was in danger, but he received appropriate treatment and recovered. It's important to spot it quickly."
