According to the indictment, a number of people at the scene of the riots attempted to set a bus on fire, but were stopped by passers-by. When they could not set the fire, a number of individuals who knew each other urged David to collect cartons, which were piled up near the front door of the bus. David then allegedly set fire to another piece of cardboard and used it to set the rest on fire, which caused the entire bus to go up in flames.
